Zamek w Moryniu, Medieval castle ruins near Lake Morzycko, Moryń, Poland
Zamek w Moryniu is a castle ruin situated on the shores of Lake Morzycko in the village of Moryń. The site displays the remains of stone walls and foundations from a fortified structure that once stood on a small elevation near the water.
The castle was built in the 14th century by Brandenburg Margraves, replacing an earlier Slavic settlement at the location. Its construction reflected the fortification efforts of the region during that medieval period.
Seven knights and a burgrave inhabited the rectangular residential building, which measured 13.5 by 19 meters across multiple floors.
The site is easily accessible and located at the lakeside, allowing visitors to explore the ruins freely. The open grounds provide views of the structure from various angles.
A smaller building measuring 4.5 by 7.5 meters functioned as a blacksmith workshop for weapon production within the castle grounds.
