Kolonia

Kolonia is a residential district in Wrzeszcz Dolny featuring low-rise homes, industrial buildings, and community gardens throughout its layout. Public transportation connects the neighborhood to central Gdańsk, while the Energa Stadium and sports facilities occupy the northeastern section.

The area was originally called Reichskolonie before being incorporated into Gdańsk in 1906, followed by major residential expansion between 1907 and 1915. This building period established the neighborhood's basic layout that evolved over the following decades.

The neighborhood served as a community hub through its schools and religious buildings that brought residents together over generations. These structures still reflect the diverse population that has called this place home.

The neighborhood is well served by public transportation with straightforward access to other parts of the city. Visitors will notice the mix of quiet residential areas and more active sections as they explore the district.

The neighborhood preserves a former railway station called Gdańsk Kolonia that once served the now-closed line between the main station and the new port. This abandoned station is a reminder of how this area connected different parts of the city in the past.
