Church of the Immaculate Conception in Ostróda

The Church of the Immaculate Conception is a neo-Gothic church building with a compact main hall featuring high ceilings and cross-ribbed vaults. The three-sided chancel was designed by architect Vincenz Statz and organizes the interior space.

This church was completed in 1888 and reflects the architectural preferences of the late 1800s through its neo-Gothic design. This romantic style was typical for religious buildings of that period across Europe.

Inside, you will find a winged altar from 1896 created by master Weis, decorated with wooden reliefs showing scenes from Saint Anthony of Padua's life. These carved details reflect the religious devotion and craftsmanship that was important to the community at that time.

The doors are open during daylight hours for visitors who want to explore the interior and see the architectural details. Plan time to observe the vaulted ceilings and decorative elements throughout the space.

The original wooden communion bench and stained glass windows from when the building was constructed remain in place today. Sculptures of Saint Anne and Saint John the Baptist stand along the choir area, adding to the historical quality of the space.
