ICE Kraków, Conference and cultural center in central Kraków, Poland
ICE Kraków is a conference and event center on the bank of the Vistula River in Kraków, Poland, facing the Wawel hill. It has three large halls that can be used for congresses, concerts, and theatrical shows, along with smaller meeting rooms.
The center opened in 2014 and was designed by architect Krzysztof Ingarden. It was built as part of Kraków's effort to grow as a destination for international congresses and business events.
The building sits right next to the Vistula River and the Wawel hill, which gives any event held inside an unusual setting. Guests at a business conference or a film screening can look out and see the old royal castle from the same room.
The center is within walking distance of the Old Town and easy to reach by public transport or on foot along the river. It is worth checking in advance which events are open to the general public, since some are reserved for registered participants.
The name ICE stands for International Congress Centre, though most people in Kraków simply use the abbreviation. The roofline of the building was designed to echo the shape of the riverbank, so from certain angles it almost looks like it grows out of the landscape.
