Kamienice Śledziowe w Legnicy

The Herring Houses consist of eight three-story buildings featuring Renaissance facades with classical elements and detailed architectural ornaments on their exterior walls.

Dating back to 1574, these buildings were constructed on the location of medieval herring stalls, with Gothic cellars still present beneath the structure closest to the town hall.

Two central buildings display sgraffito decorations from 1570, showing the Duchy of Legnica-Brzeg coat of arms along with male and female portrait medallions.

Located in the market square of Legnica, these historical buildings stand near restaurants, shops, and public transportation connections in the city center.

The underground sections, which remained sealed until 1961, were uncovered during restoration work, revealing additional structural elements from earlier centuries.
