Willa Kryształ w Krakowie

Willa Kryształ is a residential building in Podgórze, Kraków, featuring an ornate facade with carved stone window decorations, putti figures, and two distinctive helmet-shaped roof structures. The original structure was expanded in 1922 with a right-side annex and includes a terrace supported by wrought iron brackets.

The building was constructed between 1889 and 1891 by architect Stanisław Serkowski in the Baroque Revival style. In 1916, the Kryształ confectionery company acquired the property and established a candy factory in the adjacent grounds, connecting the building to the local sweets manufacturing industry.

The interior displays traditional Polish parquet patterns and multicolored ceramic tiles in the corridors, reflecting the refined taste of the late 19th century. These decorative choices were typical of affluent residential properties and continue to shape the character of the rooms today.

The building is located at Lwowska Street 30 and is easy to locate in the neighborhood. The terrace is accessible via wrought iron structures, so visitors should be prepared for potentially uneven surfaces.

The building takes its name from the adjacent candy factory, which featured a distinctive logo of a marten holding a sugar crystal. This unusual connection between architecture and the sweets industry made the structure a local landmark associated with Kraków's confectionery heritage.
