Stągwie Mleczne, Gdańsk, Medieval city gate in Gdańsk, Poland

Two Gothic towers with brick facades stand at 27 meters tall, featuring characteristic cylindrical shapes that resemble milk cans near the Motława River.

The gate construction started in 1517 as part of Gdańsk's fortification system, surviving multiple conflicts including significant damage during the 1813 siege.

The structure's name, meaning Milk Can Gate, reflects the historical connection to dairy trade and demonstrates the architectural style of Northern European port cities.

Located on Wyspa Spichrzów, the gate offers 400 square meters of space and serves as a central point for exploring Gdańsk's medieval district.

The twin towers underwent restoration after World War II damage, with their current cylindrical forms making them distinct among European medieval gates.
