Burg Liebstadt

Burg Liebstadt is a medieval castle ruin in Miłakowo with an irregular rectangular layout defined by three wings arranged around an inner courtyard. A corner tower extends prominently from the city wall and forms a distinctive part of the structure.

The castle was founded in 1315 by the Teutonic Knights as a fortification and suffered major damage from Swedish forces in 1659. French troops caused additional destruction to the site in later years.

The Gothic architectural details show how medieval Prussian fortifications were built and defended, reflecting the construction methods typical of that era.

The ruins are accessible through the northwestern section of Miłakowo and are located next to an old city gate and parish church. Visitors can freely explore the remaining walls and foundations at their own pace.

The castle stood directly next to a city gate structure, a typical arrangement for small Prussian towns of that era. This positioning beside the gate and nearby church reveals how such fortifications served both strategic and community functions.
