Argedava

Argedava is an ancient Dacian settlement in Mihăilești featuring fortified walls and defensive structures from centuries past. The site sits on elevated terrain where soil has accumulated over time, creating a mound-like appearance that masks the original structures beneath.

The settlement shows signs of continuous occupation spanning more than 1000 years of human activity. This extended timeline demonstrates the site's importance as a population center long before Roman expansion into the region.

The site contains remains of a sanctuary with two chambers and a courtyard, along with numerous burned clay vessels bearing relief decorations.

The site is largely hidden beneath soil accumulation, making it difficult to see structures at ground level without guidance. Visitors should plan time to read informational markers or join a guided tour to understand what lies beneath the surface.

Multiple burial mounds surround the settlement, and excavations have revealed cremated remains of people of high status. These findings suggest the site served as an important burial ground for elite community members across generations.
