Alkhanay National Park

The protected area encompasses 1,382 square kilometers of forests, mountains, and steppes, with Mount Alkhanai reaching 1,663 meters in elevation.

The national park, established on May 15, 1999, contains a mountain named after a princess who sought refuge at its summit from pursuers.

The Buryat people, the largest indigenous group in Siberia, consider Mount Alkhanai a sacred location for religious practices and ceremonies.

Visitors can access the park through Chita city via Highway A167, which leads to Duldirga across a distance of 250 kilometers.

The park features three distinct altitude zones containing 340 plant species, from forest-steppe at the base to sub-alpine larch trees at higher elevations.
