Vysotka

Vysotka is a modernist office tower rising 24 stories in central Arkhangelsk, reaching approximately 82 meters in height. The structure uses a steel frame with a solid reinforced concrete core that houses all elevator and mechanical systems.

Construction of this tower began in 1978 and was completed in 1983, conceived as a gift for Arkhangelsk's 400th anniversary celebration in 1984. The project embodied the city's modern aspirations during that period.

The building served as a gathering point for Arkhangelsk's design and art community over the decades. Artists and architects used the spaces to display work and collaborate on creative projects within the city.

The tower houses several design firms, broadcasting studios, and commercial offices spread across its floors. The building is generally accessible to visitors, and its illuminated upper section is visible throughout the downtown area at night.

The foundation relies on hundreds of deep pilings driven far beneath the surface to support the tower's massive weight. This hidden engineering work is rarely seen but is the key to the building's stability in the challenging local ground conditions.
