Arkhangelsk museum of local lore, Regional history museum in Arkhangelsk, Russia
The Arkhangelsk Museum of Local Lore occupies 2100 square meters of exhibition space within the historical Merchant Yards complex along the Northern Dvina River.
Established in 1837 following Emperor Nikolay I's decree, the museum initially displayed 94 items of regional significance and survived German air raids during World War II.
The museum collection contains 265,000 exhibits including archaeological artifacts, military memorabilia, Old Russian needlework, paintings, early printed books, and traditional folk art.
Located at Lenin Square 2, the museum features permanent and temporary exhibitions, a shop, lecture hall, cafe, and maintains dedicated restoration and archival departments.
The institution manages the Novodvinskaya Fortress and houses substantial collections of regional mineralogy, documenting the natural identity of historical Pomorland region.
