Доходный дом купцов Архангельских, tourist attraction in Meshchansky District, Russia
The Rental House of the Archangels is a residential building in Moscow made up of several wings that were gradually combined into one unified structure. Its facades show multiple architectural styles and decorative plasterwork from different periods, with stone balconies and ornate details visible throughout.
The house began as two separate buildings in the 1830s with a stone column gallery. Throughout the 1800s it was rebuilt multiple times, most notably under wealthy merchant A. I. Archangelsky, who had a three-story addition designed by architect M. D. Bykovsky.
The building is a protected city landmark and can be viewed from the street to observe its varied architectural layers. It is located in the Meshchansky District, which offers good access by public transportation.
An underground stream flows beneath the building, a remnant of old channels that once fed into the Negin River. This hidden water layer reveals part of the city's natural foundation that existed before urban development.
