Kosinsky Park, Protected natural area in Moscow, Russia
Kosinsky Park is a protected natural area in eastern Moscow that covers forests, meadows, and several natural lakes. Marked paths run through the grounds and guide visitors across the different habitats within the park.
The area was officially designated as a protected natural territory in November 2006, in recognition of the need to safeguard the remaining natural spaces in eastern Moscow. Before this designation, the land had remained largely undeveloped on the edge of the growing city.
The park sits in eastern Moscow and serves as a familiar green space for people living in the surrounding neighborhoods. On weekends, families gather near the lakes and forest edges, where the setting feels noticeably different from the dense city around it.
The park has several entrances around its edges and is open throughout the year. Sturdy footwear is a good idea, especially after rain, when some of the natural paths can become muddy.
One of the lakes within the park, known as Kosinskoe Lake, has a shallow, reed-lined shore that attracts water birds rarely spotted in other Moscow city parks. This makes the lakeside a good spot for anyone who enjoys watching birds in a natural setting.
