Wooden Resurrection Church, Wooden Orthodox church in Plyos, Russia.
The Wooden Resurrection Church exhibits traditional Russian architectural elements with log walls, steep roofs, and octagonal bell tower on stone foundations.
Originally constructed in 1700 in Bilyukovo village, the church was relocated to Plyos in the 1970s, replacing the burned Saints Peter and Paul Church.
Russian painter Isaac Levitan featured this church in his 1889 artwork depicting the structure during sunset against the Volga River background.
The religious building stands on Levitan Mountain, offering direct access from the Trading Square through pathways leading to the eastern entrance.
The structure represents a rare example of a Russian clet-type church with wedge-shaped roofing and no exterior gallery, preserving 17th-century design elements.
