The Gilyarovsky Museum occupies a 19th-century merchant mansion, featuring collections dedicated to Moscow's history and cultural development through the centuries.

Founded in 1930, the museum initially consisted of two buildings: an art section in the Nikitin merchant house and a historical wing in Kulakov's residence.

The museum contains exhibits exploring Byzantine and Old Russian icon painting, along with medieval tiles that reflect regional artistic traditions.

Located approximately 100 kilometers from Moscow's Ring Road, the museum offers guided tours and educational programs for individual visitors and groups.

The museum's collection includes personal items and manuscripts from Vladimir Gilyarovsky, a notable chronicler of Moscow life at the turn of the 20th century.
