Успенский собор

The Assumption Cathedral is an Orthodox church with a cubic structure topped by an octagonal dome crowned with a cross. Its walls combine rough-hewn stone with brick, and the interior includes a dining hall.

The building was constructed in 1904 originally as a cemetery chapel. During wartime, it survived bombing in 1943 and continued operations despite shell impacts on its walls.

The cathedral serves as the main Orthodox temple of the Novorossiysk Diocese, where believers gather for traditional religious ceremonies. Visitors can witness an active faith community that assembles here regularly for worship.

The building is open for religious services and regular ceremonies. Guided tours of the interior are not offered, but visitors can view the exterior architecture and participate in worship if desired.

A severe fire in 2011 destroyed precious icons and ancient religious books, but the local community united to fund the reconstruction through donations. This rebuilding effort reflects the resilience and devotion of residents to their spiritual center.
