Sankta Helena kyrka, Skövde

Sankta Helena kyrka is a medieval stone church with notable architectural features and interior details. Beneath the floor lies a burial chamber that can be accessed through an ornate wrought-iron gate from the 15th century.

The church was built in the 12th century and retained its medieval foundations despite a major fire in 1759. Reconstruction after the fire marked an important turning point in the building's history.

The church bears the name of Saint Helena of Skövde, a holy figure with deep roots in local history. Visitors can experience the religious traditions that have been practiced here for centuries.

The church is open daily for visitors who wish to pray, light candles, or attend services. The building accommodates around 375 people and provides a quiet setting for spiritual moments.

Outside the church stands a statue created by artist Astri Taube in the 1950s that honors Saint Helena. This artistic addition shows how the memory of this historical figure has been preserved in more recent times.
