Boulognerskogen

Boulognerskogen is a public park in Skövde featuring diverse woodland areas, from beech forests to tall pine stands spread throughout the grounds. The property extends from the railway on the western side to the old hospital on the eastern side, with illuminated pathways, seating areas, a playground, and a lake suitable for swimming.

The area was originally pastureland but was transformed into a city park in 1875 and named after the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. This naming reflected the city's modernization efforts and shaped Skövde's development as an urban center.

The park serves as a gathering place for community events throughout the seasons, where locals come together for celebrations and outdoor activities. Visitors will notice it remains an important social hub, especially during traditional occasions like midsummer festivals and spring gatherings.

The park is easily accessible near the central station and University of Skövde, making it convenient to reach from various parts of the city. Visitors will find well-marked pathways for walking, plenty of seating areas, and amenities that support leisurely exploration.

The grounds host an annual ultra-marathon event where runners test their endurance by completing continuous laps on a set course. This sporting occasion draws athletes from surrounding areas and distinguishes the park as a venue for challenging races.
