The temple was built during the reign of King Dharmaraja I and housed statues of Shiva and Vishnu. It represents a time when Hindu traditions were connected to the royal court of Sukhothai.

The temple shows how followers of different religions coexisted and worshipped together in Sukhothai. The eight columns frame a space where both Hindu and Buddhist ceremonies took place.

The original statues are now in the National Museum in Bangkok, but the columns and foundation can be seen on site. The temple sits in the historical park and is easy to reach if you want to understand its structure and layout.

The temple was a center for Brahmanical ceremonies during Sukhothai times, which was unusual in Thailand. This Hindu presence faded later, but the eight columns remain as evidence of this rare religious mix.
