Wat Khao Phra Si Sanphet

Wat Khao Phra Si Sanphet is a Buddhist temple located near U Thong with three large stupas arranged in a row. The complex displays remains of ancient walls and foundation stones spread across its sacred grounds.

The temple was founded in 1448 under King Borommatrailokanat and developed from former royal palace grounds into a significant religious complex. This transformation reflects how the kingdom shifted its political and spiritual priorities during that period.

The temple served as a royal place of worship where only members of the royal family could enter and participate in ceremonies. The three large stupas standing together reflect the deep spiritual importance this site held for the kingdom's rulers.

The temple is located in Suphanburi Province and can be reached by road through U Thong. Visitors should expect limited signage and allow sufficient time to explore the entire complex properly.

The temple once held a large golden Buddha statue that demonstrated the remarkable craftsmanship of artisans from that era. Though no longer present on the grounds, its existence speaks to the wealth and artistic skill associated with the site.
