Fatih Mosque

The Fatih Mosque is a place of worship in Foça with a prominent central dome and two minarets built from white stone. The structure includes a courtyard and a main prayer hall arranged in traditional Ottoman style.

Following a major earthquake in 1766, the mosque underwent significant reconstruction to repair damage across the region. This rebuilding shaped much of the structure you see today.

The mosque serves as a gathering place where the community comes together for daily prayers and religious observances throughout the year. You will notice the traditional Islamic interior design and the rhythm of worship that shapes daily life in this space.

You enter the mosque through the main gateway and should wear clothing that covers your shoulders and knees out of respect. Be aware of prayer times and remove your shoes before entering the prayer area, as is customary.

The inner courtyard still contains an original fountain where worshippers would perform ritual washing before prayer. Parts of the historic minarets have survived, offering clues to how the structure looked before the earthquake.
