Air Zoo

Air Zoo is an aviation museum housing over 100 aircraft and spacecraft across expansive exhibition areas. The facility features flight simulators, interactive attractions, and vehicles spanning different chapters of aviation history.

Suzanne Parish, a former Women's Airforce Service Pilot, founded the museum in 1977 with nine aircraft. The name came from the tradition of naming planes after animals.

The museum honors the contributions of women and African Americans in aviation through dedicated exhibits that showcase their pioneering roles. These displays help visitors understand often-overlooked chapters of flight history.

The museum sits between Detroit and Chicago near Interstate 94 and is easy to reach by car. Visitors should plan ahead since hours vary throughout the week.

Visitors can watch restoration experts repair historic aircraft, including rare military planes, through viewing windows. This behind-the-scenes access creates a special connection to the craft and care involved in preserving aviation history.
