Kalamazoo State Hospital Water Tower, Historic water tower in Kalamazoo, United States.

The Kalamazoo State Hospital Water Tower rises 175 feet tall with a stone base and brick construction, measuring 50 feet at its widest point.

Built in 1895 by architect William Buck Stratton, the water tower received its National Register of Historic Places designation on March 16, 1972.

The structure represents late 19th-century institutional architecture, reflecting the medieval design principles favored for medical facilities of that period.

The tower contains three water storage tanks, including a main reservoir holding 200,000 gallons of hard water and two additional soft water tanks.

Local residents prevented the tower's planned demolition in 1974 through the Committee to Save the Tower, which secured funds for its preservation.
