Arlington Center Historic District, Historic district in Arlington, Massachusetts, United States

Arlington Center Historic District stretches along Massachusetts Avenue between Jason Street and Franklin Street, featuring a mix of public buildings, commercial spaces, and residences that form the town center. An octagonal fire station from 1926 and several other structures showcase local architectural styles from different periods.

Settlement in this area dates to the early 1700s, with gravestones from 1735 and the Jason Russell House from 1740 marking early colonial presence. The location witnessed significant action during the American Revolution, shaping its local importance.

The Robbins Memorial Library and Town Hall serve as gathering places where locals and visitors move through gardens and public grounds that define the neighborhood's character. These spaces reflect how the community values its gathering spots and shared history.

The district is walkable and easy to explore on foot, with public buildings and grounds spread throughout the area. Plan time to visit multiple sites within the district, as attractions are distributed along the main avenue and surrounding streets.

Sculptor Cyrus Dallin created several works displayed throughout the district, including The Menotomy Hunter, which many visitors pass without noticing. His sculptures add an artistic layer to the historical landscape that often goes unappreciated.
