G. B. Hodge Center, Sports arena in Spartanburg, United States
The G. B. Hodge Center is a multi-purpose arena with a hardwood court located on the University of South Carolina Upstate campus in Spartanburg. The facility provides 878 seats and serves as the primary venue for basketball and volleyball competitions.
The building opened in 1973 following a design by the architectural firm Lockwood, Greene & Co. Its construction was completed with an investment of approximately one million dollars.
The center serves as home to the USC Upstate basketball and volleyball teams, playing an important role in the campus athletic community. Students gather here regularly to support their teams and participate in the campus sports culture.
The building is compact with limited seating, so arriving early is advisable to secure a good spot. The best time to visit is during the competition season when basketball and volleyball games take place.
Following Hurricane Helene in 2024, UNC Asheville's volleyball team temporarily relocated their home games to this facility. The center becomes an important backup venue for other athletic programs during emergencies.
