Hedgerow Theatre, Theatre company in Rose Valley, Pennsylvania, US
The Hedgerow Theatre operates in a converted 1840s gristmill building with a performance space seating around 144 people and historical design elements throughout the structure. The former industrial facility was transformed into a working stage while keeping its original architectural character.
Jasper Deeter founded the theater in 1923 and presented George Bernard Shaw's Candida as its first production in the former industrial building. Since that founding, it has grown into an established performance venue in the region.
The space serves as a community gathering place where classic and contemporary plays are performed throughout the year. Visitors experience a mix of established works and experimental productions that regularly bring the spaces to life.
The venue is accessible on Rose Valley Road and offers performances on multiple days of the week, including matinee showings on weekends. Visitors should check the current schedule ahead of time to plan when to attend.
The green room behind the stage contains furniture handcrafted by Wharton Esherick, showing how American craftsmanship was built into the space. These original pieces are visible and tell a story about how the venue was put together.
