Crozer Theological Seminary is a Baptist educational institution in Upland, Pennsylvania, that trains future ministers and theologians. The main structure rises three stories with several projecting sections and steep pitched roofs that give the building a clear silhouette.
During the Civil War the building functioned as a hospital and treated more than six thousand wounded soldiers. Martin Luther King Junior attended the school from nineteen forty-eight to nineteen fifty-one and graduated with honors.
Martin Luther King Jr. attended the seminary from 1948 to 1951, graduating with honors as class valedictorian while serving as student body president.
The school offers theological programs and certificate courses with small groups that allow personal exchange between students and teachers. The former main building now houses administrative offices for a hospital and can be viewed from outside.
The park around the old building was transformed into Crozer Arboretum and now displays different tree species. Visitors can freely explore the outdoor area while the building interior remains reserved for clinic purposes.
