Two Russian immigrants established this religious center in 1929, constructing the initial wooden structures before rebuilding after a devastating fire in 1935.
The monastery maintains Eastern Orthodox traditions through daily liturgical services, religious education programs, and the preservation of Russian Orthodox practices in America.

The monastery houses one of North America's largest Orthodox publishing operations, producing religious texts and literature throughout the Cold War period.
