Lakeview Museum of Arts and Sciences, Science and art museum in Lakeview Park, Peoria, United States.
The Lakeview Museum of Arts and Sciences was a multi-floor building in Peoria that combined art exhibitions, scientific displays, and educational spaces in one location. The collections presented both regional and international perspectives across both disciplines.
The museum was founded in 1965 when 26 art and science organizations joined together to create a shared institution. It remained in operation until 2012, after which the collections were relocated downtown.
The museum maintained a regular schedule of rotating exhibitions that connected local artists and scientific discoveries with national and international perspectives.
The museum sat in Lakeview Park and was easy to reach for visitors from across the city. Special discounts were available every second Sunday of the month for anyone visiting on those days.
The museum housed an 11-meter planetarium that served as the sun in a full-scale solar system model inside the building. This installation was recognized in the Guinness Book of Records in 1992.
