George L. Luthy Memorial Botanical Garden

George L. Luthy Memorial Botanical Garden is a five-acre space within Glen Oak Park featuring fifteen themed areas for visitors to explore. These sections include a rose garden, children's garden, wildlife garden, and a tropical conservatory where different plant species grow together.

Established in 1951, the garden commemorates George Littlewood Luthy, president of Commercial National Bank and trustee of the Peoria Park District. His influence and leadership helped create this green space as an important community resource.

The garden honors George Littlewood Luthy, a prominent local banker who shaped the community. The themed sections reflect how people connect plants to different purposes, from simple enjoyment to teaching and conservation.

The garden welcomes visitors throughout the day, with free access to outdoor areas and a donation box for those who wish to support maintenance. Comfortable shoes are helpful since you will walk between different garden sections on various paths.

The grounds feature letterboxing activities where visitors hunt for hidden containers with stamps and logbooks tucked throughout the space. This turns a walk through the gardens into a playful treasure hunt experience.
