Peoria Civic Center, Event venue in downtown Peoria, Illinois.
The Peoria Civic Center is a downtown building in Peoria that combines an arena, theater, and exhibit halls in one complex. The facility provides multiple rooms and spaces designed to host different types of events and gatherings.
The building was constructed between 1979 and 1982, replacing the earlier home of Moses and Lucy Pettengill that once stood on the site. This couple was involved with the Underground Railroad movement during the 1800s.
The center hosts performances by the Peoria Symphony Orchestra and Peoria Ballet, making it a venue where local artists and musicians regularly share their work. Visitors can experience how the community gathers here for cultural events and celebrations throughout the year.
The building is located downtown and includes parking as well as accessible entrances for visitors with different needs. If you plan to attend a specific event, it helps to check ahead about which areas are open that day.
The structure was designed by architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee, who also created other notable buildings across America. Between 2005 and 2007, the complex received substantial improvements to its facilities.
