The Michigan Alpha Chapter House is a three-story red brick building in Georgian style located on Washtenaw Avenue. It features prominent Doric columns at its entrance and provides accommodation for about thirty resident students across its floors.
The building was completed in 1903 and served as the first permanent residence for Phi Delta Theta at the University of Michigan. This Georgian structure established a lasting foundation for the fraternity's presence on campus.
The fraternity house maintains a structured program of academic support, leadership development, and community service activities for its student members.
The house is located near the southeastern edge of the University of Michigan's central campus and can be reached easily on foot. Keep in mind that this is a private student residence, so access may be restricted to members only.
The Michigan State Historic Preservation Office added this Georgian Revival structure to the Michigan Register of Historic Places in 1983.
