Morgan Mansion

Morgan Mansion is a Spanish Colonial Revival residence in Wellston, Ohio, built with brick walls and a stone foundation. The structure blends Jacobethan and Spanish Mission Revival architectural elements and now serves as the city hall.

The house was built in 1905 for industrialist T.J. Morgan, founder of Wellston Coal and Iron Company. About 30 years after Morgan's death, the building was converted to serve as city hall.

The mansion represents how wealthy industrialists expressed their status through grand residences in a mining town. It shows the connection between private wealth and community prominence during the early industrial era.

The building is accessible to the public since it functions as Wellston's municipal government center. Visitors should note that it is best viewed during the city's regular business hours.

The well-known architect Wilbur Mills from Columbus designed this residence and left a mark on the city's architectural character. Despite its grand appearance, the property occupies less than one acre of land.
