The National Museum of Transportation spans 42 acres featuring over 190 exhibits of trains, automobiles, aircraft and maritime vessels from different eras.
The museum collection includes West Barretts Tunnel from 1853, which operated as one of the first railroad tunnels west of the Mississippi River.
The museum maintains a research library containing extensive documentation about American transportation development across fifteen decades of technological advancement.
Visitors can access the museum Wednesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM with full access to indoor and outdoor exhibits.
The facility connects to an active Union Pacific Railroad main line, enabling the display and movement of large railroad equipment including the massive Union Pacific Big Boy locomotive.
