Saint Regis Mountain, Mountain summit in Adirondack Park, New York, United States.
Saint Regis Mountain is a 2,874-foot (876-meter) summit in Adirondack Park with a 6.8-mile (10.9-kilometer) round-trip trail that winds through mixed hardwood forests. The path climbs steadily through these woods, offering increasingly wide views as it approaches the top.
A fire observation tower was built on the summit in 1918 to watch for forest fires across the landscape. The structure was fully restored and reopened to the public after being decommissioned in 1990.
The mountain sits within a canoe area that reflects how much this region values outdoor recreation and natural preservation. Visitors can feel this commitment in how the landscape is maintained and used by the community.
The trailhead is located at the Keese Mills Road parking area, and hikers should prepare for roughly 1,650 feet of elevation gain with stone steps helping on the steeper sections. Sturdy hiking boots and plenty of time are important for this moderate climb.
From the summit on clear days, visitors can spot roughly 30 different lakes spread across the landscape, including Upper and Lower Saranac Lake. This view of so many bodies of water from a single vantage point is what makes this summit special.
