Downtown Greensburg Historic District
Downtown Greensburg Historic District, Historic district in Greensburg, Kentucky.
The Downtown Greensburg Historic District encompasses 47 buildings around a central public square, featuring Federal and Greek Revival architectural styles from the early 1800s.
Founded in 1794 as Glover's Station, Greensburg received its current name after the establishment of Green County, honoring Revolutionary War General Nathanael Greene.
The district incorporates numerous stone buildings, brick commercial structures, and a preserved log house that reflect the architectural preferences of early Kentucky settlers.
The district contains the Old Courthouse, constructed between 1802 and 1804, which now houses historical exhibits and provides information about local heritage.
A 445-foot-long stationary footbridge from 1928 connects the town square to the lower section of Greensburg, standing 40 feet above ground.
