Green River Lake State Park

Green River Lake State Park is a protected area covering over 1,000 acres with forest and meadows surrounding a large lake in the center. The grounds include walking trails, picnic areas, campgrounds, and multiple boat launch sites for recreational use.

Water filled the basin in the 1960s when a dam was built across the Green River, flooding the former valley landscape. This new lake quickly became an important recreation spot for the surrounding region.

Visitors come here to observe native bird species and aquatic wildlife, particularly during migration seasons in spring and fall. This focus on nature watching has made the site popular with locals interested in outdoor learning and wildlife observation.

The park is easy to access with ample parking at several entrances. The best visiting season runs from spring through fall when trails and water activities are most accessible.

The lake bottom contains many submerged structures that provide fish shelter and attract anglers to specific zones. These underwater features make the waters particularly valuable for certain fish species.
