Alumni Stadium, Football stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, US
Alumni Stadium is the main football field of Boston College with seating for approximately 44,500 spectators arranged in a lower bowl configuration. The facility features digital video boards at both end zones and serves as both a sports venue and a site for academic ceremonies.
The stadium was built in 1914 to replace the original Alumni Field, which held only 2,200 people. Major improvements in the 1990s transformed it into the modern facility that exists today.
The stadium serves as the setting for Boston College's annual Commencement ceremony and brings the university community together for significant moments. It has become a central symbol for the college and is woven into the institution's academic traditions.
The location sits west of Boston and is accessible by public transit, making it easy to find your way once you arrive. Visitors should plan to arrive early to secure parking and allow time to walk from the parking area to the entrance.
From December through March, a 20-meter-high inflatable vinyl cover stretches over the entire stadium, creating an indoor practice space. This seasonal structure allows the university to continue training regardless of winter weather.
