Nasketucket Bay State Reservation

Nasketucket Bay State Reservation is a protected area along the Nasketucket Bay coastline in southeastern Massachusetts. The site combines wooded trails, open meadows, and rocky shorelines across its 209 acres.

The state established this reservation in 1999 to protect the land from residential development. The move recognized the value of preserving natural coastal landscape for the future.

The property maintains multiple trails for outdoor activities including hiking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, and nature observation throughout the year.

The site is open from dawn to dusk with free parking available at the northeast entrance. Wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing, as trails can become slippery after rain.

The reservation holds hidden vernal pools where frogs and salamanders breed, appearing only during wetter seasons and often overlooked by casual visitors. These temporary wetlands reveal the complexity of the coastal ecosystem beyond what the main trails show.
