Converse Hall, Student residence hall at University of Vermont, Burlington, US.
Converse Hall is a four-story student residence building on the University of Vermont campus with a U-shaped layout and marble exterior walls. The structure features many rectangular windows and decorative finials at the gable ends.
The building was constructed in 1895 by the Wilson Brothers architecture firm based in Philadelphia and served as military barracks during both World Wars. Its design reflects the architectural style favored during that period.
The residence hall promotes mixed-gender floors and participates in the Wellness Environment initiative focusing on student health and community development.
The building sits in a central location on campus and is easily accessible on foot alongside other academic and student facilities. Keep in mind this is an active residence hall and access inside may be restricted.
The building was constructed from Rutland marble, a local Vermont material, and is registered in the National Register of Historic Places as a Chateauesque structure. This rare architectural style makes it a notable example of its time in the region.
