Amway Grand Plaza, Curio Collection by Hilton, hotel in Grand Rapids, United States
Amway Grand Plaza, Curio Collection by Hilton, is a hotel in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, housed in two connected towers: a historic early 20th-century building and a newer glass tower added later. The older tower's lobby features marble floors, tall ceilings, and large chandeliers, while upper floors in both towers offer views over the Grand River or the city skyline.
The older building opened in 1913 as the Pantlind Hotel and was considered one of the finest hotels in the Midwest at the time. It was restored and renamed in the 1970s, and the glass tower was added in the 1980s to expand the property.
The hotel takes its name from Amway, a company founded in Grand Rapids that grew into one of the largest direct-sales businesses in the world. That connection gives the property a local identity that goes beyond its role as a place to stay, and many residents choose it for weddings and formal events.
The hotel sits in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids along the Grand River, putting most of the city's main attractions within easy walking distance. Guests who plan to spend time outdoors should note that the riverfront walkway starts just outside the building.
When it opened in 1913, the Pantlind Hotel was one of the few hotels in the region where every guest room had its own private bathroom, which was far from standard at the time. That early commitment to comfort helped establish its reputation well beyond Michigan.
