Զվարթնոց պատմամշակութային արգելոց-թանգարան

The Zvartnots museum holds archaeological finds from an ancient cathedral site, including carved stone pieces, architectural fragments, and ceramic items discovered during excavations. Both indoor and outdoor areas display these artifacts, helping visitors understand how the original religious structure was constructed and arranged.

The cathedral was built in the middle of the 7th century and served as an important religious center for the region. It was destroyed at some point in history, but archaeologists uncovered its remains during the 20th century and preserved them in this museum.

The exhibits show how people in the early medieval period built religious structures and the crafts they used to create them. Visitors can see the skill of Armenian builders from more than thirteen centuries ago reflected in the carved stones and architectural pieces on display.

The site is located west of Yerevan and can be reached by public transportation or car. The museum features a relatively flat layout that is easy to navigate on foot, and visitors can join guided tours in several languages to better understand the exhibits.

Outside, original stone fragments remain on display that reveal the immense scale of the former structure. Visitors can see and touch these large remnants to grasp the architectural ambition of the original builders.
