Lazarettstraße, Historical street in Neuhausen-Nymphenburg, Munich, Germany

Lazarettstraße runs about 400 meters through the Neuhausen-Nymphenburg district and connects two main thoroughfares. Five-story residential buildings line both sides with ground-floor shops, a typical Munich urban layout from that period.

The street began construction in 1868 under architect Arnold Zenetti's direction and received its official name in 1891. It was named after a military hospital that held importance in the area.

The street name comes from the military hospital that once occupied this area and shaped the neighborhood's identity. Today visitors can see buildings from around 1900 that give the district its distinctive character.

The street has bike lanes on both sides and wide sidewalks for pedestrians with good lighting throughout. Traffic moves through different speed zones, so pay attention to signage as you walk or ride.

At number 40 stood the original military hospital designed by Zenetti that gave the street its name. Today this location continues as a medical facility, showing how the site has maintained its healthcare purpose.
