Knabstrup Manor, Historical manor house in Holbæk Municipality, Denmark.
Knabstrup Manor is a three-winged manor house with Historicist architecture, designed by architect Vilhelm Dahlerup and built between 1861 and 1862. Parts of the earlier east wing were preserved and integrated into the overall structure during reconstruction.
The manor is first documented in 1288 when it was confiscated from the Hvide nobility family, marking the start of its recorded history. A devastating fire in 1620 later forced the estate to be rebuilt at a different location.
The estate is known as the birthplace of the Knabstrupper horse breed, which developed in the 1800s through selective breeding programs led by Major V. Lunn. The spotted horses became famous and remain connected to the place's identity.
The manor is located in Regstrup at Knabstrupvej 51, roughly two kilometers southeast of Knabstrup railway station. The area is accessible by train connections to Kalundborg and Holbæk.
After a devastating fire, the building lost its original location entirely and was rebuilt about 700 meters away. This unusual relocation shaped the property's modern identity.
