The rectangular cast-iron police box features classical details, pilastered elevations, and a saltire glazing pattern on all sides of the structure.
Architect E. J. MacRae designed this police box between 1930 and 1931 as part of Edinburgh's communication network for law enforcement officers.
The structure bears the Edinburgh city arms on its door, representing the local architectural style rather than the standard British police box design.
The police box served as a small station where officers prepared reports and maintained contact with headquarters through an integrated communication system.
In 2014, this police box was among 23 similar structures that the Scottish Police Authority placed on the market for public purchase.
