Mallyan Spout, Natural waterfall in Goathland, England
Mallyan Spout is a waterfall in Goathland that drops roughly 70 feet down through a narrow ravine carved from sandstone. The water flows along West Beck and has formed a distinctive gorge within the North York Moors landscape.
This waterfall became popular with visitors during the Victorian period as they explored the North York Moors. Its appeal as a destination existed well before the area gained recognition through television and film.
The waterfall trail connects to Goathland station, which gained recognition through its appearance in Harry Potter films as Hogsmeade station.
Access to the falls starts from a footpath beside Mallyan Spout Hotel that leads down to the stream. The route involves crossing large rocks and navigating steep slope sections as you follow the waterway.
A natural pool at the base collects the falling water and offers direct access for visitors without barriers or railings. During warmer weather, this pool becomes a popular spot for wading and cooling off.
