Long Lane Pasture

Long Lane Pasture is a nature reserve in Finchley, North London, covering about two acres of varied habitats. It features open grassland, shrubs, trees, flowering plants, and several small ponds that support a range of local wildlife.

The site gained protected status in 2002 when the Long Lane Pasture Trust secured management rights through an agreement with Barnet Council. This secured its future as a permanent refuge for the area's wildlife.

Local residents actively care for this space through regular volunteer work, creating a sense of shared responsibility for the natural habitat. This hands-on involvement gives people a direct connection to the land they live near.

The reserve is open daily from April to October, with clear paths throughout the site for exploration. Winter months bring restricted access due to flooding risks, so plan visits during the main season for better conditions.
