The Sheffield War Memorial consists of a 25-meter flagpole supported by a bronze base with four soldier statues at its center in Barker's Pool.
Unveiled in 1925, the memorial features regimental emblems, including those of the Yorkshire Dragoons, Royal Artillery, Royal Engineers, and York and Lancaster Regiment.
The bronze structure incorporates military emblems, Sheffield's coat of arms, and statues of soldiers with bowed heads and reversed rifles as symbols of remembrance.
The memorial stands on a traffic island that was pedestrianized in 1989, making it accessible for public ceremonies and wreath-laying throughout the year.
The memorial's central flagpole, constructed from a single piece of mild steel by Earle's Shipbuilding of Hull, displays a gilded ball and crown.
