Town Hall

Colne Town Hall is a Gothic-style building with a symmetrical main frontage displaying five bays along Albert Road and topped by a four-stage clock tower. The exterior showcases detailed stonework and is protected as a Grade II listed structure.

The building was designed by renowned architect Alfred Waterhouse and opened in 1894 as the town's new administrative center. This period marked an important moment in the modernization of local civic infrastructure.

The building serves as a venue for local celebrations and civil ceremonies, with its interior spaces hosting community events and gatherings. The rooms here reflect how the town marks important occasions in the lives of its residents.

The town hall is easily reached on foot in the city center and sits directly on Albert Road where parking is available nearby. The exterior can be viewed anytime, while visits to the interior should be arranged in advance.

At the entrance stands a massive paving stone from Clough Fold Quarry, cut from a single slab and representing a remarkably rare piece of local stonework. This enormous stone is a remnant from an era when such monumental single stones were more commonly used in building projects.
